Instrumental & Piano

I teach private online piano lessons for all ages (and adult) beginners and advancing students.

My approach is to teach and encourage strong fundamentals in playing technique while learning a variety of songs. This way we have the foundation for both note reading and future technical playing, which in turn sets the groundwork for branching towards popular and jazz music with light performance focus, or for “classical” music with a more virtuosic performance focus.

Although I am a “classical” piano concentration, I’ll help to set some foundations in popular and jazz music. When you advance farther in either style, I can make recommendations for teachers that will be a better fit for your learning level to keep you engaged as a pianist!

Compositions Lessons

My approach is to aid your creativity, help develop your own sound, and to give any advice you may need such as engraving, music theory, part writing, orchestration, and specific composition questions.

Although I can help you learn to compose if you are new to creating your own works and pieces, I am more comfortable working with advancing beginners.

The policies for Lessons apply here. The only thing that does not apply is the rates. We’ll discuss them when you contact me, but they’ll probably be very low.

I’m willing to help you understand theory, get through a class, be a practice buddy, aid with homework.

I have taken AP Music Theory in high school, and I am currently in Theory II at Temple University.

Note: I haven’t taken Theory I at Temple University, this is because I tested out. Also, I haven’t taken the intro to theory courses offered here. This is all to say, I don’t know the complete curriculum and also the way your professor might want you to answer questions.
